James W. Jones is a 2006 Malone Award Winner

The Commission on International Programs has selected Dr. Brady J. Deaton, Chancellor, University of Missouri, Columbia, and Dr. James W. Jones, Distinguished Professor, IFAS, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, to receive the 2006 Michael P. Malone International Leadership Award.  This award, dedicated to the memory of Michael P. Malone (1940-1999), was

established in 2000 to provide national recognition for a career of outstanding contributions that furthers international education of state and land-grant institutions.  The Commission has embarked on a concerted effort to build global competence on National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges (NASULGC) campuses.  The Malone award is a vital part of this strategy and we have worked to accord this award and its recipients the national stature they deserve.

Jones serves a principal investigator of the SM CRSP’s carbon sequestration project at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
